Faucet Repair Tips

I know its slow, but I wanted some quality. It prints better then it looks

Anatomy Of A Typical Faucet

Most two-handle water faucets are compression type units. Even though they may not look alike, they are similar in operation and repair. When you turn the handle to shut off the water, the stem moves down and an attached hard rubber washer prevents water from flowing through the valve seat. A packing washer around the faucet stem keeps water from flowing out the faucet stem.

Diaphragm Stem Faucets
Different stem faucets require their own types of seats and washers In a diaphragm stem faucet, a rubber cap called a diaphragm does the work of the washer, covering the bottom of the stem. Remove the old diaphragm and replace it with a new one.

Repairing Single Lever Faucets
Many newer homes have washerless single lever faucets. There are four basic types - disc, valve, cartridge and ball and cam. In addition there are differences within each of these types. When repairs are required, purchase a repair kit for your particular faucet brand and model. Make sure these parts are genuine parts for your faucets. The repair kit will include all the parts that need to be replaced plus recommended repair method from the manufacture. Installing these replacement parts should result in a faucet which functions properly for several years without needing further repairs.
